Our classroom is modelled on the Montessori framework and approach. The children have access to an abundance of materials and their progress and development is tracked regularly through observations from our qualified teachers.

We want each child to be fully prepared for ‘big school’ and we feel our school has the right balance between, work, fun and play!! No two days are the same in Manorbrook. Our teachers plan and prepare the curriculum in accordance with the children’s interests which can spark some wonderful topics and themes throughout the year.

‘Follow the child’ is one of the key principals of Montessori Education.

The children participate in lots of arts and craft activities, which are taken home at the end of each term. The children also work on a specially prepared scrapbook of individual work throughout the year. This is put together in the form of a learning journal and is given to each child at the end of the academic year, as a souvenir of their learning, progress and accomplishments.

An individual Parent/teacher meeting is held during the school year to discuss each child’s progress. Along with individualised Christmas and summer reports.

Our classroom also has opportunities for the children to rest and relax. It’s a busy day and we want the children to feel comfortable enough to sit down and read a book, lie down for a little rest if needs be, or simply just chill out! We have created an environment that will cater for the children’s needs as the day progresses and ensure the children have some much needed downtime.

We really believe in the benefits of play in Manorbrook. We use the Aistear framework to design a play-based curriculum, blending free play, guided play, and intentional teaching. We set up little play stations within the classroom for the children so it sparks curiosity, problem-solving, creative thinking, and making sense of the world through play and natural materials.

We love using our tuff trays to incorporate lots of sensory play also.
